Biscuits and Groovy

The big culinary story in Austin these days is the food cart revolution. They did a count and there are literally a zillion food carts out on the streets right now. With all those carts looking to find their own niche and their own identity, you’re bound to encounter a bit of myopia. For instance, Biscuits and Groovy, located at the intersection of 51st and Duval. This is a cart that does nothing but sell biscuits and gravy. For roughly eight bucks a pop.

But if you’re going to spend that much for what amounts to the lowest item on any greasy spoon menu, at least you get a lot of it.

This particular flavor of biscuits and gravy is called the Arethra Franklin or something. But what do I care? It has lumps of meat and cheese. That’s halfway to being everything I need in a meal.

As my grandfather would say, “Looka that!”
