Building back houses is a thing here in Austin. You’ve got a backyard and you’ve got absurdly high property taxes and you’re just going to put two and two together.
But few of those back houses look like a subdivision of Mos Eisley.
I saw this as I was biking past the Texas State Cemetery. They had the fence on the backyard down at the time to make way for construction, so the whole kit and kaboodle was visible from the alley.
It looks like some sort of concrete and stucco material. There are windows up at the very point of the humps, either to let in light or let out hot air in the summertime. Hard to be sure. It all looks like the end result of 5th grader’s wire-bound notebook drawings. Which is to say I really wish I could get a peak inside once it’s finished, because it looks totally awesome.
