I’d heard that Indian cuisine used edible silver as a food additive and a decoration, but pricing considerations had prevented me from exploring the pastries and deserts sheathed in silver leaf. So I was happy to find silver and sugar-coated anise seeds for an affordable price.
They taste primarily of licorice. If the silver has a taste of its own, I didn’t notice. But while I was chewing, if the mukhwas touched my filling, then I got a definite chewing on aluminum foil sensation.
This is a candy that will have to fall in the category of prettier than it tastes.
